Acoustical Society of America
The Society is primarily a voluntary organization that attracts the interest, commitment, and service of a large number of professionals. Their contributions are largely responsible for its world-wide preeminence in the field of acoustics.

University of Washington
Since 1974, the University of Washington has led the nation’s public universities in competing for federal research and training grants. The UW is honored to have some of the greatest researchers in the world on the faculty. Six UW faculty members have received Nobel Awards since 1989, and five have won Nobel Prizes in medicine since 1990.

Applied Physics Laboratory
University of Washington
APL-UW scientists and engineers make important contributions to understanding the earth's climate cycles and continue to lead research in the basic and applied physics of acoustics.

Beyond Discovery:
Sounding Out the Ocean's Secrets
Researchers apply their knowledge of how sound travels underwater to carry out myriad tasks, such as detecting nuclear explosions, earthquakes, and underwater volcanic eruptions.

ASA Underwater Acoustics Technical Committee
The Technical Committee on Underwater Acoustics is responsible for representing and fostering underwater acoustics within the Acoustical Society of America. It is concerned with both natural and anthropogenic sound and its generation underwater; and the propagation, reflection, and scattering of sound in the underwater environment including the seabed and the sea surface.
